Midland Quadrangle - Kansas
Historic Aerial Photography Archive (1941-2002)

Project Description

This collection of aerial photography was assembled for the forest division of the Kansas Applied Remote Sensing (KARS) Program's Carbon Sequestration Project. The purpose of this section of the carbon project is to characterize the forest cover change in the eastern Kansas ecotone where the tallgrass prairie meets the eastern deciduous forest.

While preparing this data set for the forestry project, it became apparent that the imagery is applicable to a wide variety of other work in this study area. For this reason, this site was created to provide a quick and visual means for exploring the archive and accessing its imagery.
