Natural Resource Planner

Dec. 2013 - present Kansas
Map of known wild turkey location as reported by a survey of regional experts shown with Omernik level two ecoregions outlined and numbered in bold black. Inset table shows the numbers of known turkey locations within each ecoregion. The counties shaded in green simply reported turkeys present throughout and did not provide specific locations.

Cheyenne Bottoms is one of the largest wetlands in the central United States (19,857 acres) and is a wetland of international importance. Nearly half of the migrating waterfowl and wading birds stop here as they migrate between Canada and Mexico. Having current imagery and vegetation maps help refuge managers monitor the conditions of critical habitats and food sources as well as track the spread of invasive species like cattail and phragmites.
